Airbnb experience in Eindhoven

We had a very pleasant Airbnb experience in Eindhoven that made us feel like we were at home.

After four days spent in Amsterdam with Mercedes, it was time to discover the next city on our list. We made our way to the nearby Lelylaan station and waited patiently for our train. The ride was so short we didn’t even realise when we arrived in Eindhoven. From there, it was a short 15 minute walk to our host, Antonia.

We chose Antonia because we liked her house and the kitchen with a view of the courtyard.

The dormitory, which is situated on the first floor of the house, is very spacious. The bed is big and comfortable; next to the window, you can take a seat on the armchair, do some work on your laptop and look out the window. The bathroom is also spacious and is next to the dormitory. Everything in the house was very clean and Antonia is the perfect host. We loved staying in her neighbourhood, it was very quiet and the houses all looked alike. Nearby, you can find a few supermarkets, restaurants and the city centre is only a short walk away.

We were happy that we arrived in Eindhoven in the weekend and Antonia was freely available; we spent our mornings together and talked about different things. Every day started with a rich, organic breakfast carefully prepared by Antonia.

We really felt at home at Antonia’s place and she always made sure that we had everything at our disposal. She also recommended interesting places to visit. The next time we’ll visit Eindhoven, we will definitely stay at her place again.

Airbnb experience in Eindhoven: Interview with Antonia

Hello Antonia, we love to think back and remember the time we stayed at your lovely place; we want to thank you for your kind welcoming.

1. Do you use Airbnb exclusively when you travel? Tell us a bit about your experience with Airbnb.

My first Airbnb experience was on a holiday-trip to Malaga. I loved it. The host was very friendly and helpful, he made you feel at home. The nice thing about it was also that it gives you a feel as if you live in the city, not being a tourist but a citizen.

2. We enjoyed staying in Eindhoven, everyone seemed relaxed and friendly. Where do you like to go when you want to feel like at home?

I can feel at home all over the world, as long as I have friendly and respectful people around me. I’m a big fan of Spain, but I also liked Czech Republic when I was there last summer. And with my family, I visited South-Africa in January, stayed in a big house just outside Cape Town (using Airbnb). We loved it!

3. What places would you recommend visitors who want to spend their time in Eindhoven?

Depending on their interest I’d suggest going to the Strijp-S area (good food, nice little shops, energetic vibe) and a bit further northeast visit the place of designer Piet Hein Eek. The Van Abbemuseum is very worth visiting.

In the park Dommelplantsoen in Eindhoven, it seems like you are far away from the city

When guests are in for a nice walk, I show them the city parc next to the Park Theatre, walking as far as the farmhouse to have a drink and buy good organic cheese.

4. What travel destinations are on your wishlist?

Quite high on my list is the island of Okinawa in Japan. Next, comes Argentina — also for solid walks in Patagonia.

5. We enjoyed having long conversations and getting to know you. What five facts would you like to tell our readers about yourself?

Good food is very important for me, as is good music (jazz). I’m a family lady — love my kids and grandchildren and spend a lot of time with them. This year I’ll start being a bee-keeper.

Thank you for answering our questions. We hope to see each other again.
